Redis Cloud subscriptions purchased through Google Cloud Marketplace can use different billing and integration models. The model affects how billing is managed, which payment methods are available, which Redis Cloud features are supported, and which process you should follow when moving a Google Cloud Billing Account or disconnecting Marketplace billing.
Use this guide to identify whether your subscription uses On-Demand or Pay As You Go (PAYG) billing, a Private Offer, the legacy Google Cloud 3PIC model, or the current Google Cloud iSaaS model. It also explains the main 3PIC limitations, what a 3PIC migration notice means, and who owns Marketplace invoices and refunds.
For new Marketplace setup, see Sign up for Redis Cloud with Google Cloud Marketplace.
Quick Fix
| If you see this | Most likely model or next step |
|---|---|
| Redis Cloud Billing & Payments shows Google Cloud Marketplace as the payment method. | Marketplace-billed account. Check Google Cloud Marketplace next to determine whether the order is PAYG or a Private Offer. |
| Google Cloud Marketplace shows an active Redis Cloud order with no Private Offer details. | Likely PAYG. Continue with the PAYG billing-management path. |
| Google Cloud Marketplace shows a Private Offer, negotiated term, commitment, or offer ID. | Private Offer. Confirm the target billing arrangement before moving or canceling the order. |
| Redis Cloud is GCP Marketplace-linked, but the account does not support the credit-card fallback used by current Marketplace procedures. | Suspect legacy 3PIC. Contact Redis Support before changing the Marketplace billing relationship. |
Terraform returns ACTIVE_ACTIVE_FOR_GCP_ACCOUNT_IS_NOT_SUPPORTED. |
Strong 3PIC signal. Active-Active is not supported on legacy 3PIC. Contact Redis Support about migration. |
| Redis was enabled through GCP APIs & Services instead of the current Marketplace purchase flow. | Possible legacy integration. Check both Redis Cloud Billing & Payments and Google Cloud Marketplace orders before making changes. |
| You received a 3PIC migration notice. | Legacy 3PIC account. Contact Redis Support to determine whether the migration can be completed in place or requires re-provisioning. |
| You need to move to another GCP Billing Account. | Identify PAYG vs Private Offer and iSaaS vs 3PIC first, then use Move a Redis Cloud subscription to a new GCP Billing Account: Choose your path. |
| You want to disconnect Google Cloud Marketplace. | Identify iSaaS vs 3PIC first, then use Disconnect Redis Cloud from Google Cloud Marketplace. |
Prerequisites
Before you start, make sure you have:
Access to the affected Redis Cloud account.
Access to Billing & Payments in the Redis Cloud Console.
Access to the Google Cloud Billing Account used to purchase Redis Cloud.
The affected Redis Cloud subscription ID.
Any available Google Cloud order ID, Private Offer ID, entitlement ID, or Billing Account ID.
Identify Your Model
1. Check Redis Cloud
In the Redis Cloud Console:
Open Billing & Payments.
Confirm whether Google Cloud Marketplace is connected.
Open the affected subscription.
Check whether the subscription shows Google Cloud Marketplace as its payment method.
Check whether a credit-card payment method can be added or assigned.
2. Check Google Cloud Marketplace
In the Google Cloud Console:
Select the Cloud Billing account used for Redis Cloud
Go to Billing → Marketplace subscriptions
Open the Redis Cloud subscription
Select Your Orders.
Select the Billing Account associated with Redis Cloud.
Open the Redis Cloud order.
Review whether the order is standard usage-based billing or is associated with a Private Offer.
3. Compare the Signals
| Model | How to identify it |
|---|---|
| On-Demand / PAYG | Google Cloud Marketplace is the Redis Cloud payment method, and the Marketplace order does not show Private Offer terms, negotiated commitments, or an offer ID. |
| Private Offer | The Marketplace order includes Private Offer details such as a negotiated term, offer ID, committed amount, or accepted offer. |
| GCP iSaaS | The account uses the current Google Cloud Marketplace integration. Marketplace orders are visible through the current purchase flow, and supported billing-move or disconnect procedures can use an alternate payment method when required. |
| GCP 3PIC | The account uses the legacy Google Cloud Marketplace integration. Common signals include no supported credit-card fallback, legacy APIs & Services setup, a 3PIC migration notice, or the Active-Active Terraform error. |
Important: Do not identify 3PIC from one missing UI field alone. Use multiple signals or contact Redis Support if the model remains unclear.
If Redis Was Enabled Through GCP APIs & Services
Some legacy Redis Cloud Marketplace accounts were enabled through Google Cloud APIs & Services instead of the current Marketplace purchase flow.
If this applies:
Check the relevant project under APIs & Services → Enabled APIs & services.
Identify the Redis-related service.
Record the project and Billing Account.
Check Cloud Marketplace → Your Orders for a Redis Cloud order.
Compare this with Redis Cloud Billing & Payments.
If Redis Cloud is clearly GCP Marketplace-linked but the current Marketplace order cannot be identified, contact Redis Support before disabling the API, unsubscribing, or changing billing.
What 3PIC Does Not Support
| Capability or operation | 3PIC behavior |
|---|---|
| Redis Cloud Essentials | Not supported. |
| Active-Active | Not supported. |
| Terraform Active-Active provisioning | Can return ACTIVE_ACTIVE_FOR_GCP_ACCOUNT_IS_NOT_SUPPORTED. |
| Credit-card fallback used by current Marketplace disconnect procedures | Not supported. |
| Self-service iSaaS PAYG billing-account move procedure | Not supported. Contact Redis Support for the appropriate migration path. |
Plan, region, subscription, and database limitations still apply after moving to iSaaS.
If You Received a 3PIC Migration Notice
A 3PIC migration notice means the Redis Cloud account is connected through the legacy Google Cloud Marketplace integration and needs to move to a supported billing model.
Do not unsubscribe from the existing Marketplace relationship before the migration path is confirmed.
There are two possible migration approaches:
| Migration path | What to expect |
|---|---|
| In-place migration | The billing or Marketplace relationship changes while existing Redis Cloud resources remain in place. A database migration or endpoint change may not be required. Redis Support must confirm eligibility and any expected service impact. |
| Re-provision and migrate | New subscriptions or databases are created under the supported model. Data migration and application endpoint changes may be required. Downtime depends on the migration method and cutover plan. |
Contact Redis Support for:
3PIC confirmation
Migration eligibility
Technical migration planning
Resource and database impact
Downtime and cutover requirements

Renewal or commercial changes
Move to Another GCP Billing Account
Do not begin by canceling or disconnecting the existing Marketplace order.
First identify:
PAYG or Private Offer
iSaaS or 3PIC
Then use Move a Redis Cloud subscription to a new GCP Billing Account: Choose your path.
iSaaS PAYG: Use the documented PAYG procedure.
iSaaS Private Offer: Confirm the Private Offer or entitlement requirements for the target Billing Account before making changes.
3PIC: Contact Redis Support for migration planning.
Disconnect Google Cloud Marketplace
Before disconnecting, identify whether the account uses iSaaS or 3PIC.
Then, use Disconnect Redis Cloud from Google Cloud Marketplace.
iSaaS: Follow the documented replacement-payment and disconnect procedure.
3PIC: Do not use the iSaaS credit-card fallback procedure. Contact Redis Support for the approved migration path.
Marketplace Invoices and Refunds
For Redis Cloud subscriptions provisioned through Google Cloud Marketplace, AWS Marketplace, or Vercel Marketplace, the Marketplace provider owns the customer-facing invoice and payment settlement process.
| Request | Who handles it |
|---|---|
| Invoice copy, payment status, or transaction history | Marketplace provider |
| Void or reissue a Marketplace invoice | Marketplace provider |
| Refund or provider-side credit | Marketplace provider process |
| Confirm which Redis resources generated a charge | Redis Support |
| Investigate incorrect Redis Cloud usage | Redis Support |
| Outstanding prorated balance after cancellation | Marketplace provider |
Redis cannot directly void or refund an invoice issued by Google Cloud, AWS, or Vercel.
Redis Support can investigate the Redis Cloud usage associated with a charge and assist with a Redis-side billing issue, but provider-issued invoices and outstanding prorated balances are handled through the Marketplace provider.
