Deleting a Redis Cloud account requires removing all databases, subscriptions, users, API keys, payment methods, and unpaid invoices before final closure. Once the account is cleared, you must submit a Privacy Request Form to permanently erase personal data in compliance with GDPR, CCPA, and other privacy regulations.
This guide covers the prerequisites, role-based requirements (only the Account Owner can delete an account), step-by-step instructions for deletion, and troubleshooting common blockers.
If you only need to stop billing for a specific subscription (without deleting your entire account), see Cancel a Redis Cloud Subscription.
Account Deletion Workflow & Prerequisites
Before you can request permanent account and data deletion from Redis Cloud, you must:
- Delete all databases in the account, see Delete Database Guide.
-
Delete all subscriptions in the account. See Delete Subscription Guide for instructions.
Important note: If you only need to cancel a subscription (without deleting the entire account), see Cancel a Redis Cloud Subscription. -
Remove all users except the Owner.
Only the Account Owner can delete an account.
- For SAML/SSO accounts, user management is handled via your Identity Provider (IdP), for more information, please review Access Management Guide.
- Clear all outstanding invoices and remove payment methods (credit cards, marketplace links) See Billing & Payments Guide for more instructions.
- Submit a Privacy Request Form for final erasure of personal data and account closure following the steps in Redis Privacy Policy.
Note: Only Account Owners can perform these steps. API keys and automation (REST API, Terraform) can be used for some deletion tasks.
Quick Fix Table
| Problem | What to Check | Quick Fix |
|---|---|---|
| Cannot delete account | Databases or subscriptions still exist | Delete all databases and subscriptions first |
| Option missing in UI | Not signed in as Account Owner | Log in with Owner role |
| Account blocked | Outstanding invoices remain | Go to Billing & Payments → Pay now |

- Sign in to the Redis Cloud Console.
- Select the database and open the Configuration tab.
- Scroll to the Danger Zone and click Delete Database.

- After all databases are deleted, open the subscription Overview tab.
- Scroll to the bottom and click Delete Subscription.
- Confirm deletion.
C. Remove Users (Team Members and Cloud Console Users)
- Go to Access Management → Team.
- Select the user → Delete user → Confirm.
- Only Owners can remove others.
- In SAML-integrated accounts, remove users through your IdP.
- Delete API keys manually if provisioned.
D. Remove API Keys
- Go to Access Management → API Keys.
- Delete all user and account keys.
E. Remove Yourself (Non-Owners)
- If you are not the Owner, you cannot self-remove. Request removal by the Owner or your IT admin (for SSO).
F. Remove Payment Methods
- Go to Billing & Payments → Payment Methods.
- Remove credit cards and marketplace payment sources once subscriptions are deleted.
Deleting Personal Data and Submitting a Privacy Request
After all resources are removed:

- Redis will verify that the account is clear before deletion.
If resources, users, or unpaid invoices remain, the request will be rejected or delayed.
