Cancel a Redis Cloud Subscription – Redis Knowledge Base

Canceling a Redis Cloud subscription requires that all databases under the subscription are first deleted. Depending on whether your subscription is billed directly through Redis Cloud or through a cloud marketplace (AWS, GCP), the cancellation process differs slightly. This article explains self-service cancellation via the Redis Cloud Console, outlines AWS and GCP marketplace cancellations, and includes troubleshooting for common billing and subscription issues.

Subscription Types & Billing Context

Essentials: Shared subscription, prepaid monthly, typically one database.
Flex/Pro: Usage-based billing, multi-database, advanced features (e.g., VPC peering).
Marketplace (AWS or GCP): Billing and cancellation flows are managed partly through your cloud provider’s marketplace console.

Only Account Owners can cancel a subscription.
Outstanding balances must be cleared before cancellation. Go to Billing & Payments → Pay now to settle invoices.
All databases must be deleted before the Cancel button appears.
Payment methods cannot be removed until subscriptions are fully canceled and balances are cleared.

Delete All Databases
- Log into Redis Cloud Console.
- Navigate to Databases.
- For each database: Open Configuration → Danger Zone → Delete Database.

Cancel the Subscription
- Go to Subscriptions from the top navigation.
- Select the subscription.
- Open the Overview tab.
- Scroll down and click Cancel Subscription.
- Confirm in the dialog.

Assign a direct payment method (credit card) in Redis Cloud before disconnecting to avoid unintended data deletion.
Remove the AWS Marketplace mapping. If you encounter any problems or have any inquiries, please reach out to the Redis Support team for assistance.
If it is your last AWS Marketplace–linked Redis account, you must unsubscribe directly in the AWS Console under Marketplace subscriptions.

Assign a direct payment method (credit card) in Redis Cloud before canceling to avoid unintended data deletion.
Unsubscribe in Google Cloud Console → Marketplace → Your Orders.
If it's your last GCP Marketplace—linked Redis account, all databases may be suspended or deleted once the subscription ends unless a payment method is added in Redis Cloud.

If issues continue, contact Support.

Charges stop only after subscription deletion. Essentials is billed in advance; Flex/Pro is billed in arrears.
No retroactive refunds. Most subscription charges are non-refundable, even if canceled mid-cycle.
Rare exceptions (system error, immediate accidental start) may be handled case-by-case by Support.
Outstanding balances block cancellation. Pay invoices before account closure.
