Redis Cloud supports private offers through Google Cloud Marketplace, allowing your organization to purchase Redis Cloud using a negotiated GCP Marketplace agreement tied to your Google Cloud billing account. Completing the process requires permissions in both Google Cloud and the Redis Cloud Console, acceptance of the Marketplace offer, and mapping the Marketplace contract to the correct Redis Cloud account so usage is billed correctly. This article covers the required permissions, how to accept the private offer in Google Cloud Marketplace, how to map the Marketplace listing to your Redis Cloud account, and how to verify the Marketplace billing connection is active.
Prerequisites
Before you begin, confirm the following:
Google Cloud permissions
You must have one of the following:
Billing Administrator (roles/billing.admin)
Billing User (roles/billing.user) plus Consumer Procurement Order Admin (roles/consumerprocurement.orderAdmin)
Redis Cloud permissions
Owner access to the target Redis Cloud account in the Redis Cloud Console
Without these permissions, you cannot accept or activate the private offer.
Step-by-Step Instructions
1. Accept the GCP Marketplace private offer
The Redis team provides a private offer link. Open the link while logged in to the correct Google Cloud account associated with the intended billing account.
In Google Cloud:
Open Cloud Marketplace.
Select Your Orders.
Select the correct billing account.
Wait for the order status to change to Active.
Open the order to review the private offer details.
Confirm the offer shows as accepted successfully.
2. Open the Redis Marketplace listing
After the offer becomes active:
In Your Orders, select the Redis product listing.
Select the correct Google Cloud project. The project must be associated with the same billing account used when accepting the private offer.
-
If you are unsure which project is attached to the billing account:
Go to Billing > Projects
Review the associated projects for the billing account
If the required project does not exist
Create a new GCP project associated with the correct billing account before continuing.
3. Connect the Marketplace contract to Redis Cloud
Once the correct GCP project is selected:
Click Manage on Provider to open the Redis Cloud Console.
Sign in to the Redis Cloud account you want connected to the GCP Marketplace contract.
-
On the Marketplace connection screen:
Select the Redis Cloud account(s) to associate with the Marketplace contract
-
Enable the checkbox:
Your Google Cloud Marketplace account will pay for your Redis Cloud resources
This step maps the Marketplace agreement to your Redis Cloud account and begins Marketplace credit consumption.
4. Verify the Marketplace mapping
After completing the connection:
-
In the Redis Cloud Console, go to:
Billing & Payments
Payment Methods
Confirm that the Google Cloud Marketplace payment method appears and shows the Marketplace order connection.
A successful configuration should display:
Google Cloud Marketplace as the payment method
The Marketplace order reference
The connected billing relationship
Troubleshooting
| Issue | What to check |
|---|---|
| Private offer cannot be accepted | Verify you are logged into the correct Google Cloud account and have the required billing permissions. |
| Order does not become Active | Confirm the billing account is valid and that procurement permissions are assigned correctly. |
| “Manage on Provider” button does not appear | Ensure the selected GCP project is tied to the same billing account used for the private offer. |
| Redis Cloud account does not show Marketplace billing | Verify the Marketplace checkbox was enabled during account mapping. |
| Charges are not consuming Marketplace credits | Confirm the Redis Cloud account is mapped to the Marketplace contract under Billing & Payments. |
Common Scenarios
Multiple Redis Cloud accounts
If your organization manages multiple Redis Cloud accounts, carefully select the correct account during Marketplace mapping. The Marketplace billing relationship only applies to the accounts explicitly selected during setup.
Multiple GCP billing accounts
If your organization uses multiple GCP billing accounts, ensure the project you select belongs to the same billing account used to accept the private offer. Mismatched billing accounts are the most common cause of activation failures.
Existing Redis Cloud subscriptions
Mapping a Marketplace contract changes how Redis Cloud usage is billed moving forward. Validate the correct Redis Cloud account before confirming the Marketplace connection.
