Redis Cloud subscriptions created through the Vercel integration use Vercel-managed identity, which means the email address shown in the Redis Cloud Console is read-only and reflects what Vercel provides during sign-in.
This article explains how identity and access work for Vercel-integrated Redis Cloud accounts, how to update the email that appears in Redis Cloud, and how to troubleshoot common access and notification issues.
Covered: Understanding Vercel-integrated account behavior, step-by-step email update instructions, and troubleshooting common scenarios.
Prerequisites
Access to the Vercel account used to sign in
Membership in the Vercel team that installed the Redis Cloud integration
Quick Fix Table
| Issue / Symptom | What it means / What to do |
|---|---|
| Access Management (Team) tab or Add user is missing in Redis Cloud | The subscription is Vercel-integrated, so identity and access are managed in Vercel, not in the Redis Cloud Console.Manage users and roles in the Vercel team that owns the integration, then sign out and back in using Continue with Vercel. |
| Email address is read-only in Redis Cloud | The email is sourced from Vercel during authentication and cannot be edited in Redis Cloud.Update and verify your email in Vercel, then sign out and back in to refresh your session. |
| Switched to a different Vercel account and lost access to Redis Cloud | Access is tied to the Vercel team that installed the integration, not the individual login.Add the new account to the same Vercel team, then sign in again using Continue with Vercel. |
| Notifications still go to the old email | Notifications follow the email identity provided by Vercel.Ensure the correct email is verified in Vercel, remove outdated emails if needed, then re-authenticate in Redis Cloud. |
Understanding Vercel-integrated Redis Cloud accounts
When you create a Redis Cloud database through the Vercel Marketplace integration:
User and team management is controlled by Vercel, not by Redis Cloud.
The Redis Cloud Access management (Team) UI and actions like Add user may not be available.
The email address shown in Redis Cloud is inherited from Vercel and cannot be edited in the Redis Cloud Console.
Billing and plan changes follow the Vercel Marketplace flow.
If you are looking for native Redis Cloud user management for non-Vercel subscriptions, use Redis Cloud Access management instead.
Step-by-step: Update your email address
Step 1: Update and verify your email in Vercel
Log in to your Vercel account.
Go to your account or team settings.
-
Update your email address and complete verification.
For example, by changing your account email or adding a new account and ensuring it is part of the same team)
If your organization uses team-based access and you are effectively switching to a new email identity, you may need to add the new email as a team member and remove the old one in Vercel team settings. Availability depends on your Vercel plan.
Step 2: Confirm Vercel team membership
Ensure you are still a member or owner of the same Vercel team that installed the Redis Cloud integration. Access to the Redis Cloud subscription is granted through this team.
Step 3: Refresh your Redis Cloud session
Sign out of the Redis Cloud Console.
Sign back in and select Continue with Vercel.
This forces Redis Cloud to re-read your identity from Vercel and update the email shown in Redis Cloud.
Troubleshooting
-
Cannot find Access Management or Add User in Redis Cloud
This is expected for Vercel-integrated subscriptions. All user and role management must be done in Vercel.
-
Email change is not reflected in Redis Cloud
Verify the email is updated and verified in Vercel, then sign out of Redis Cloud and sign back in using Continue with Vercel.
-
On the Vercel Free plan and unable to add or remove team members
Some team management features require Vercel Pro or higher. Review your plan or upgrade if needed.
-
No longer have access to the old email address
Recover access through Vercel Support. Redis Support cannot update email addresses or override identity for Vercel-integrated accounts.
