This onboarding guide walks you through the key steps required to successfully set up and operate Redis Cloud. Each article in the series builds on the last to help you create a secure, scalable, and production-ready Redis Cloud environment. It includes account setup, database deployment, user and network configuration, and connectivity. Follow the steps for a smooth onboarding process.
Onboarding Steps
1. Introduction to Redis Cloud
Understand the Redis Cloud platform, including deployment models (Essentials, Flex, Pro), cloud provider support, subscription types, and how Redis Cloud differs from self-managed Redis.
2. Creating a Redis Cloud Account
Sign up for Redis Cloud, verify your account, and access the Redis Cloud console.
- Set Up and Map Your Redis Cloud Account in AWS Marketplace
- Set Up and Map Your Redis Cloud Account in GCP Marketplace
3. Choosing a Subscription and Creating Your First Database
Choose a plan (Essentials, Flex, or Pro), select your cloud provider and region, and create a database.
4. Connecting to Your Redis Cloud Database
Use Redis Insight, redis-cli, or language-specific SDKs to connect to your database using connection strings provided in the console.
5. Managing Team Members and Roles
Invite teammates and assign roles (Owner, Manager, Member, Viewer) using the Access Management section of the console.
6. Secure Your Redis Cloud Database
Set up TLS, IP allow lists, access control lists (ACLs), and multi-factor authentication to secure access to your Redis Cloud environment.
7. Monitoring Setup in Redis Cloud
Access built-in dashboards, enable Prometheus/Grafana integration (Pro plans), and retrieve performance metrics via the Redis Cloud REST API.
8. Configuring Backups in Redis Cloud
Enable scheduled or on-demand backups, configure remote storage destinations (S3, GCS, Azure, FTP), and monitor backup health in the console or via API.
9. Setting Up Alerts in Redis Cloud
Create custom usage alerts (e.g., memory, latency), assign recipients, and configure notifications via email or webhook using the UI, API, or Terraform.
10. Configuring VPC Peering in Redis Cloud Pro (AWS and GCP)
Configure private network connectivity to your Redis Cloud databases by peering your application VPC with Redis Cloud (available on Pro subscriptions).
