As part of Redis Cloud onboarding, subscribing through Google Cloud Marketplace allows you to centralize billing, access private offers, and streamline procurement. This guide focuses on completing your Marketplace setup successfully and provides troubleshooting steps for common onboarding and mapping issues.
Use this guide after:
Starting a GCP Marketplace subscription for Redis Cloud.
Preparing GCP IAM roles and confirming you are a Redis Cloud Account Owner.

Key Billing & Contract Points
GCP Marketplace Models
GCP uses two Marketplace contract models that determine how billing, credits, and onboarding behave.
iSaaS (Integrated SaaS—Current Model)
Contracts are prepaid, with credits provided each installment.
Unused credits roll over to the next installment.
When credits are used up, overage is billed at a discounted rate.
For single upfront payments, overage applies only after all credits are exhausted.
Data transfer charges reduce contract credits (discounts may apply in some cases).
At contract end, service continues as Pay-As-You-Go with no discount.
3PIC (Third-Party Integration Contract—Legacy Model)
Contracts are postpaid, billed at the end of each month for the prior month’s usage.
Credits are tracked by Redis, not part of the GCP postpaid private offer.
Data transfer charges reduce contract credits; new customers may get discounts, while legacy renewals may need approval for additional discounts.
All usage and overage is discounted. There's no “overage at list price.”
Why It Matters for Onboarding
iSaaS supports private offers, multiple Redis Cloud accounts, Essentials, and Active-Active.
3PIC has limited billing flexibility and doesn't support Essentials or Active-Active—migration to iSaaS is required for these features.
If features are unavailable or accounts are grayed out during mapping, check your model and request migration if needed.
Understanding Marketplace Models for Onboarding
Before troubleshooting, confirm which Marketplace model your subscription uses.
This impacts onboarding behavior and available features.
| Model | Onboarding Behavior | Limitations |
|---|---|---|
| iSaaS (Integrated SaaS) | Modern GCP Marketplace model, fully supported for onboarding and future features. | • Supports private offers & multiple Redis Cloud accounts• Enables flexible billing and Essentials/Active-Active |
| 3PIC (Third-Party Integration Contract) | Legacy model; some older orgs still use this. | • Cannot access Essentials or Active-Active• Limited billing flexibility• Migration required for full onboarding |
Tip: If your account is grayed out during mapping, or features like Essentials are unavailable, you may be on 3PIC. Create a Redis Support ticket to migrate to iSaaS.
Troubleshooting Common Setup Issues
| Issue During Onboarding | Cause | Resolution |
|---|---|---|
| Signup Loop or Redirects | Cached browser session or incomplete account mapping. | • Clear browser cache & cookies.• Restart the subscription from the GCP Marketplace listing. |
| Private Offer Accepted, UI Still Shows “On-Demand” | Marketplace UI does not change after accepting a private offer. | • This is expected; billing is active.• Confirm status in Redis Cloud → Billing & Payments.• If unclear, create a Redis Support ticket. |
| Cannot Complete Account Mapping | Missing required GCP IAM roles. | • Confirm the correct Billing Account.• Ensure you have: – Billing Admin OR – Billing User + Consumer Procurement Order Admin (GCP IAM role reference) |
| Redis Account Greyed Out | You are not the Account Owner. | • Only Redis Cloud Account Owners can map accounts.• Request ownership if needed. |
| “Manage on Provider” Button Missing | Project or billing account mismatch in GCP. | • Switch to the original GCP project & billing account used for subscription. |
| Mapping Completed but Subscription Shows “In Progress” | Backend sync delayed or stuck. | • Create a Redis Support ticket to finalize the mapping. |
| Move Redis Cloud to a New Billing Account | Subscription tied to the old GCP Billing Account. | • Contact Redis Support for safe entitlement remapping. |
| Cannot Add Multiple Redis Accounts to One Subscription | Only one account was mapped initially. | • In Redis Cloud: Billing & Payments → Add Marketplace Account. |
| iSaaS vs. 3PIC Conflicts | Legacy 3PIC accounts cannot onboard fully. | • Essentials & Active-Active require iSaaS.• Create a Redis Support ticket to migrate. |
Best Practices for Onboarding Success
-
Verify Roles Before Starting
Only users with Redis Cloud Account Owner and GCP Billing Admin or Billing User + Consumer Procurement Order Admin can complete onboarding mapping.
-
Confirm Mapping Before Database Creation
• Check Redis Cloud → Billing & Payments to ensure GCP Marketplace is the active payment method.
• Wait for mapping to complete to avoid billing or entitlement issues.
-
Safe Account Un-Mapping
• Add a credit card fallback in Redis Cloud.
• Move subscriptions to the card before unsubscribing from Marketplace.
• Warning: Unsubscribing without a fallback can delete databases.
