The Redis Software download portal is the default location for downloading installation packages. However, the portal may only display the latest available versions and may not expose every maintenance build.
If you need a specific version or build that is not visible in the portal, see Can’t find your version in the portal? and How to download a specific version for the correct next steps.
Can’t find your version in the portal?
If the Redis download portal only shows newer versions (for example, 8.x) and you need a specific version such as 7.8.6:
This does not necessarily mean the version is unavailable through Redis Support.
The portal does not display all versions or builds.
You should open a Redis Support ticket and request the installer.
This is a common scenario when working with cluster recovery or node rejoin workflows.
Quick Fix
| Situation | What to do |
|---|---|
| Need a specific version (for example, 7.8.6) not shown in the portal. | Open a Redis Support ticket and request the installer. |
| Reinstalling a node to rejoin a cluster. | Install the exact same version and build as the cluster. |
| Only newer versions (for example, 8.x) are visible. | Do not install a different version just because it is visible in the portal; request the matching version instead. |
| Unsure which version to use. | Check the cluster version first, then request the matching installer. |
When you need a specific version
You must install the exact same Redis Software version and build when reinstalling a node to rejoin an existing cluster, recovering a cluster after node or disk failure, or maintaining version consistency during recovery workflows.
In these scenarios, installing a different version or build can prevent the node from joining correctly and can cause recovery to fail.
How to download a specific version
If the required version or build is not available in the Redis download portal:
Open a Redis Support ticket.
-
Provide the following details:
Exact Redis Software version and build (for example, 7.8.6-253).
Operating system and version (for example, RHEL 8 or RHEL 9.7).
Package type, if known.
Reason for the request (for example, reinstalling a node to rejoin an existing cluster).
Redis Support will review the request and, when appropriate, provide a direct download link or share the installer package.
Important notes
The download portal remains the default and preferred method for obtaining installers.
Not all versions or builds are exposed in the portal.
Access to installers outside the portal is handled case by case by Redis Support.
Redis Support typically provides installers for supported versions or required recovery scenarios, not for arbitrary legacy requests.
Do not install a different version as a workaround unless you are following a supported upgrade procedure.
